Check this out, $3.50, for 8’ of 1/4" MDF. What a steal! I don’t use 1/4" MDF for anything else, so buying a full sheet is a bummer. For anything but a full build, one is enough for both parts. $7 for two to do a full build is pretty dang good and very easy to handle and transport.
Next time you go into your local big box take a look around. Mine was in the lumber area, but I have a feeling I never saw it before because it is was misplaced or something, I bet it is normally with the concrete, and I rarely go over there.
Just checked, both of the orange big box stores near me have it in stock. The one across the street from my office has it in the concrete area (Aisle 19)
The bender board looks neat. Doesn’t seem to be stocked in my area (Seattle), checked several stores.
Plenty of primed 1/2" thick baseboard trim is available everywhere though. But that’s too thick for current brace design (unless… You cut 1/2" baseboards and mill 1/4" deep channels/recesses where braces land, maybe, I didn’t check fit).
Didn’t know about MDF specific sealers before, have just used several shellac spray coats for LR4, and 2 coats of primer-exterior paint for LR3. I was curious about titebond that Jim’s found useful for various scenarios…
