CCJ..What Project Are You Putting Off?

I will never reveal the depths of my procrastination…or my justifications to myself why it can wait.

I have a 5’ section of “landscaping” that needs a bag of bark to match the rest of the yard. Bark is on sale for $3/bag, it has been this way for about 2 years. I have no idea why I do not grab a bag at the hardware store when I am there at least once a week. At this point I probably need 15 bags and give the entire yard a little sprucing up. Yet I will take apart my hose holder sand and refinish it, which took more than an hour in total.

Sometimes I have no idea what motivates me.

I’d really like to produce some stuff for a craft show, but I can’t get my ass up. I have a chessboard prepared (yes, I want to try that huge inlay again…), I want to do some boxes…

I also want to create a dice tower that doubles as die storage… Make some more skateboard earrings…

A tributei was born in The town it was written about and my dad who is 92 now talkes about it. I now need to print and install new parts on my primo to be able to do this but my printer is no longer printing correctly it keeps getting more and more involved :upside_down_face: I’ll get there eventually but boy howdy

I bought a 4 color filament system for my printer almost 2 years ago. Rather than bolt it on I decided it should be modified… and it is still on the list.

I’m putting off making a list of all the projects that I’ve been putting off.

It will be a long list…

See I’ve done the opposite. I’ve made a list of all the projects but instead of working on those, I start a new one.

Thanks Carmen, I now cut the negative of the chessboard that I’ve been putting off for waaaay too long. I also finished that bench.

Look at how crisp those lines are!! Completely straight. The new spindle is so incredibly quiet that I had to check twice whether it was actually cutting…

Done. With wheels to roll it in (though I am advising against actually using it to sit on with those wheels… they are just for the grand entrance… :stuck_out_tongue:)

This question cut me to the quick! With 24hrs till we catch the plane to the other side of the world I pulled out my sketch books and started making all those little bits for the boat that I intended to make in the nine months I have had available, to take with me.

That of course has had a “minor” impact on cleaning, tidying and packing.

But I guess those things are no longer being put off, so I can cross them off what once was a list headed “things to do - URGENT”, but is now a small book.

Possibly my greatest feat of late was making my GP laugh when she realised just how long I’ve been putting off making an appointment with the Procrastination Counsellor! (not his real job but that will do). He is slightly helpful in this regard, and I do see his face admonishing me every time I fail to start my daily exercise routine, so I feel the slightest twinge of guilt rather than happy muscles, but projects still get started at a far greater rate than I can finish them!

Almost a year ago I decided that it was finally time to do something about our staircase, which we have always hated. It was a 90s builders grade design with huge curved steps on the bottom that once held carpet….but the previous owners decided to remove the carpet and cover it in the worlds cheapest laminate. Putting square laminate over the curves made it even bigger and created a bunch of voids. Add to that the pieces that are coming loose over the 15-20 years since it was done; its gross

I got a bug up my butt (during a family gathering, mind you), to tear one of the bottom steps off to “see what was under it”. The answer was poor framing and LOTS of liquid nails.

It remains like this, shitty laminate with one step missing because I haven’t decided how to tackle the project and it makes my head hurt….so I put other projects in front of it, or just do nothing.
