My water well for the house. Not really âbrokeâ but between this drought and a high water use school in my back yard; the well has given up. ![]()
Nothing. Weird. ![]()
My oven. Trips the main breaker every time I turn it on. Guessing element or fan. ![]()

a mercury one printer (original an ender5), better said, my son did that. He is also the one who built it and whoâs going to repair it
The rototiller main jet is plugged so it can only run on idle and it dies often. The clock is ticking to get the compost in the beds before winter in the limited daylight after work.
The last week or so has been 2025:a printer odysseyâŚ
Itâs what I call a âsurprise projectâ. The exhaust fan from our radon mitigation system gets full of ladybugs, so I take it apart and clean it out. But when I took it off this time, this angle connector broke. They are cheap and available at home depot, at least. Just not what I was planning on doing today.
Probably less of a surprise to whoever violated the bend radius on that cable.
Firewood got delivered the day before we left for the week. Luckily we cut the vacation short, cause we had a storm roll in that I wasnât expecting. Pulled the tent stakes out of the ground. So when we pulled up, the tarp was flipped over and the wood was getting rained on. Tarp is screwed to some bigger chunks now. ![]()
The sink plumbing i just installed is leaking ever so slightly⌠Off the shelf ptrap didnt seal for some reason.
EDIT: the plastic pipe was nicked and didnt seat. easily fixed.
The power outage yesterday blew up a small 5v brick for the console on my weather station. I cut up a usb-a mini cable that I recently discovered was âpower onlyâ (stupid) by trying to use it as a data cable and spliced it onto the bullet connector that the console uses. So now the weather station console can be powered by any USB brick capable of 1A.
Couple of wraps of duct tape could have made that ânext yearâs problemâ ![]()
My 2015 Ford Focus ST sprung a coolant leak from one of the heater core hoses at the firewall.
Not today but last month one of the tub bearings on my washing machine went off like a small grenade and took out one of the drive shaft journals on the way out.
My house has two roof leaks (garage and patio, thankfully)
Side note - This has been the absolute worst year of my life in terms of automotive issues. Between my wifeâs van and my ford, until this past January we had ONE non-wear item repair that exceeded $1k when I had some clogged injectors. 17 combined years of car, mostly trouble free.
Since Jan 2025 weâve had an oil cooler (van), radiator (van), wheel bearing (ford, though I guess this is a wear item), heater hose (ford), engine mount (van), front suspension noise I havenât figured out yet (van), and my new-to-me used wagon had a rain leak and and now has a noisy rear diff. (and Iâve only had the wagon since august!)
Whew! sorry to vent but this question caught me at a bad moment! I just wish everything would stop breaking all at once!
Wow! What a bummer. Cars can be such a pain. Hopefully you get everything sorted and then have a quiet stretch.
I hear you. Iâm pulling an engine tonight to do a clutch and timing belt on one of the kid cars. Hope to have it functional and back in service monday before i go to bed⌠Heavy sigh. Sometimes the best choice is to just put my head down and get dirty to get it done. Hang in there.
I feel youâŚ.Iâm gonna try and do the coolant lines AND diff oil by monday. At least I only need to finish one of them, as the wagon was bought specifically to be the 3rd car so we always (hopefully!) have 2 cars in service.
This is how far i got yesterday.
Water pump and new timing belt installed.
Clutch plate shattered. Realized the new kit didnât include a clutch alignment tool. So i printed one on the newer mp3dp (First real thing):
Model off thingiverse. Hope to get the clutch on and everything back in tomorrow.
Damn, broâŚ.Youâre a real one! Thatâs a JOB. makes my Sunday look tame.
I did manage to do my jobs. Drained and refilled diff on my wagon. Only did a quick test drive but the noise appears to have gone away!
The old oil. It was TIME. no idea if the previous owner(s) ever changed it. My guess is noâŚ:
The bigger job was the tiny little o-rings (not pictured) in the heater hose fittings. It was a simple swap but I had to do quite a bit of work just to GET to the hoses:
The parts pile:
I wonât know if it holds till I refill the coolantâŚdidnât have any on hand. The o-rings are in, though!
