CCJ...May Challenge

This was a quick and simple one. The handle for my sliding screen door had a crack in it. So I made a new one. It’s larger so it’s easier to grab and thick enough so I could recess the screws.

Done in FreeCAD.

Fixed the couch that was spitting out it’s springs…

Why do the leaf springs pop-out like that after a single year of use you ask?
Well maybe because they’re only held by pure hope and two staples?
And not even stapled in the right direction to avoid tering out…

Printed some replacements, with a proper screw going through, that also serves as a reinforcement for retaining the spring

Of course, the side I need to attach these to is unreachable without ripping the whole couch apart…
So I screwed them into a tassle and screwed the tassle to the existing one…

Took a bit of convincing and swearing of course, but I got both side strapped down, and the couch is as good as new…

Best part of it all? I work for the company that sells those couches -_-

Let me guess: they don’t care about your feedback?

Hey! Are you thinking about joining in on May’s challenge?? You should! We’d love to see your home improvement project!

I am still building my boat bench for a colleague. Does that count as home improvement?

It’s definitely an improvement to someone’s home!

speaking of someone’s home… the pig’s condominium

needed some reinforcement.

the front acrylic was not secured.

drew up some mounts:

used up the last bit of paduk filament. It was great stuff.

Installed. Pig is less likely to get taken out by the neighbor’s dog who is watching him.

Not flashy, not difficult. It took about an hour and most of that was waiting for the print to finish… that only went 90% because the filament was gone, but they should work ok.

have a job coming up about 12 sheets 18mm laminate to cut and assemble. so had to push table into corner as i need floor space to assemble

Then i’m like how an i physically going to lift the sheets on the table, there’s no way
so i designed a over head gantry in my head drew up rollers in freecad 3d printed them , it came together pretty good due to small curve on pipe if you dont push it straight rollers can jam a bit may run straighter with a sheet hanging from it

dont look at welds they only tack welds for the trial run

,have a spare skr board which im thinking could use toying with motors at one end pulley at other end, loop the belt , will mean 30 odd meters of belt but means all wires at one end or more likr LR and motors opposite sides of X will mean it more involved but having touch screen closser will be a bonus

have an abundance of stepper wires didnt see the 10 per order so now have 30 meters of them haha

heres link if anyone want it

Lots of outdoor activity before my wife’s surgery next month. 10 yards of mulch moved so far, greenhouse uncovered yesterday evening, and trying to teach our young heeler mix dog from eating the little chicks. This is his version of timeout…

Today was a full rehab of the old chicken gate:

it’s finally getting nice out here!

Also been fixing mulch around the house using a CNC cut attachment…

Bought bunch of mulch during Lowes $2 sale. Zip tied CNC cut polycarbonate Trim Reaper to my Hula Hoe so scraping off the top crust of aged mossy/discolored mulch can be quickly reaped/discarded without switching tools…

Am using hula hoe to scrape top ~1/2" crusted layer into batches of windrows, then twist the handle so the hula hoe blade is up (like the pic), and poly blade can be used for light duty shoving crusty mulch sections aside.

That is fascinating, we rarely ever get the chance to even do that. Our mulch turns directly into dirt way too fast. To the point we ground cloth all of our perennial gardens under the mulch just to keep the weeds under control.
