Can I lift my MPCNC

I am attempting to wood carve a Rocky Mountain landscape. As you can imagine the elevations could be a problem. My question is, does anyone see an issue with rising the MPCNC at the corners so the router sits higher? This will allow me to use longer carving bits and prevent machine interference with the model. Any Advice would be greatly appreciated.

I did it a few times. You lose regidity the farther from the xy tubes the router has to drop to reach the board. But it works.

It’s not so much that the router drops. I just need to get it the router and carrier out of the way of the peaks and valleys. I’m just going to use a long shank.

That’s still going to induce a large torque on the machine. You’ll probably be fine. You’ll just need to take shallower cuts.
