Burly Revisions

Hi Ryan,

I am looking at making my 1st CNC using your superb design. I love it.

I am looking at making a 30"x 30"x 3" 25.4mm model using stainless steel tube I can get from work.

Sorry if this s a question that has been asked before and answered

Are the Fusion 360 files available - not so much that I really want to modify anything but it would me helpful to allow me to design mods etc in the future

Many Thanks

Ian

Hi, no, sorry. More info in the FAQ’s, but I do not use fusion on top of that.

No problem,

Thanks for the reply.

Cheers

Ian

My MPCNC has seen a few years of serious abuse. I moved to Phoenix from San Diego last year and between the abuse and now 115 degree garage some of my parts are starting to crack. This would be a good time to think about an upgrade I guess :). It’s hard to want to work in a 115 degree garage right now though. The other 9 months of the year are fine though.

Thanks for the continued updates and improvements!

Parts I ordered from you for a MP3DP V2 are arriving today! Printing parts right now for it. If it works well I’ll probably be building a small farm of them soon. I’ll buy what I can from you to try and support your excellent work here! Thanks again!

Hi, use tinkercad to make modifications. its basic but easy.

My wife dumped a bunch of blow up pool beds etc on the MPCNC in the garage a few months back and managed to snap the top z motor bracket and one of the feet. (Lots of eye rolling and 'tut’ing frome me. “Thats a precision machine you know, you cant just dump stuff on it” other expletives deleted.)

Now she needs me to finish one of her projects I was busy with which can only be done using the MPCNC bed size. Now she INSISTS that I fix it. Can you think of ANY better excuse to do a Burly upgrade? and try out the new end stops all without being nagged (how many of those things are you going to make etc etc.)

How to make a husband happy and not even know it.

Thanks Ryan for the continued development and improvements.

Well you better get on it. I spent most of the day yesterday in CAD. I was working on a prototype I started more than a year and a half ago…So by that math you have about a year until I have the next version. So right about the end of pool season you need to get her to do it again!

If I print just the xy, xyz, and spacer parts from the new burly update can I use the z section that I already have put together and installed?

Depends, two of the three versions changed a tiny bit, best to also print the Z parts and tool mount, small fast prints luckily. Just to be safe you should also print the small corner spacers.

Thanks Ryan. Will do.

Is there any difference between the 3 different sizes in your opinion (and anyone else too) as far as strength goes? Are the printed pieces slightly thicker on the smaller diameter compared to the 1” version or is the overall scale bigger to make it all proportional as you go up in tube size? I am going to start building a second smaller version for mostly aluminum milling and want the strongest I can for rigidity sake.

Larger diameter is more rigid, but each country typically only has one choice.

Since lock-down, my MPCNC has been working non-stop. Just heard about your MPCNC2000 model and looking forward to seeing how you make it even better. Forced to come up with dust extraction which I will do a separate post on.

Deja vu, anyone?

Maybe even ahead of schedule…

I think the real deja vu is:
"I think I will release parts today or tomorrow evening. Poor business choice for me as I am out of stock on Rambo boards again and only have one full set of each new plastic parts on hand but my poor planning shouldn’t effect those of you waiting for some cool stuff to print! "
