Anybody see this foldable workbench idea? The hardware links to Home depot she provides are around $84. That is before adding the lumber costs. Looks like an interesting idea.
Those look like a good fit for the garage with cars. I use something like this:
with a 2/12 across the top when I need more space where my car used to be. Definitely flimsy, but it didn’t take me long to make, and I made it out of scrap. This seems like a good choice too.
What I really need is a foldable table that will keep all the stuff on it. The big problem with a temporary huge flat surface is all the crap I immediately put on it.
I have that problem with flat surfaces also & my problem seems linked to where I use to work. If we had a table with nothing on it, Someone else in the company figured we did not need it & would take it.
I need a workbench with the MPCNC on the top. I then need to be able to flip the top over to reveal my mini-lathe, grinder and drill press. Then I need to be able to turn it sideways to reveal the bandsaw and disc/belt sander. Then I need to turn it the other way to give me the chop saw and maybe a wider platform for the table saw. That would give my little one car garage/shop enough rooom to actually get some niftier tools.
You have to think vertically. What you need is some type of automated rafting system that you can mount all the machines onto trays. When you need a machine, punch a code into the system and have the machine drop down from the ceiling and onto a stand in the middle of the garage.
Next machine, punch in a new code. It will then lift the current machine up into the rack and drop down the next one. Kinda like a tape-system robot.
I have a piece of laminated counter top that was removed from the kitchen that I put on top when I need something flat.
The notches in the top are perfect for putting 2x4’s in . With 2 2x4’s in the notches, the stand is extremely sturdy. I use that setup for breaking down 4x8 sheets of plywood.
