Budget Quiet Shop Vac - Craftsman 12002

I searched far and wide for a shop vac that is legitimately quiet. My buddy has a Fein shop vac, which is probably the quietest shop vac you can get, but it’s also $300. Today I picked up a Craftsman 12002 for $65.00 (with a $5 coupon), and to my ears it is just about as quiet as the Fein in my buddy’s shop.

I’m sharing here because I had a difficult time finding any information online regarding quiet shop vacuums, and several companies advertise their vacuums as being “Ultra Quiet” even though they are well over 80db.

Before I bought the new Craftsman vacuum, my shop vac was the loudest tool in my shop by far. The new vacuum is probably one of the quietest tools I have. I had honestly got to the point that I avoided running the vacuum unless it was absolutely necessary, out of respect for the neighbors.

Here’s a link for the vacuum: https://www.craftsman.com/products/craftsman-ultra-quiet-4-gallon-5-peak-hp-portable-household-wet-dry-vac

Oh man, we all need this. $65!!! Thank you so much for sharing!

I just did a search on amazon and this came up as well. They look identical other than the color, http://amzn.to/2kRGSni.

I am going to run over to Sears today if I get a bit of free time and see if I can score a good deal, they are $78 on amazon for the craftsman.

Okay, let us know what you think!

According to the Question/Answer section of the Sears website, “Per our tool team the noise level of this unit is 68-72 dB.”

Yeah, I think I read that Cleva (parent of VacMaster) is the manufacturer, so that’s probably the exact same machine.

BTW, when I was searching for quiet shop vacs, I came across this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2tUwdSVJJ4

I got a good laugh out of it. “You could hear a pin drop over it if you wanted.” LMAO

Great! I’ve been looking into this and voila! Thanks!

vicious1, did you end up getting a vacuum at Sears? I’m super curious to get your thoughts.

I just finished printing this Dust Deputy style cyclone dust collector on Thingiverse, I’ll post up a review tomorrow after the epoxy cures (It’s optimized for machines with shorter Z axis, so it prints in three parts and has to be glued together): http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2104717

Nothing at my sears, If I do it I will go for the amazon one first. It has to be the same thing, if not amazon has an amazing return policy.

Btw, it’s far more expensive for the same machine here in Canada. I’ll likely order one from Amazon as well.

It looks this may be similar from the looks of it but no mention that it’s a quiet vac. Canadian Tire version ?

Kinda pricey too. $149.00 CDN

As for vacuum cleaners - there are quite a few useful tips and articles on all types of vacuum cleaners - https://bestvacuum.reviews/

Haha this is quite funny. Are you a machine or a person? Come on own up and we can have some fun.
