Bondtech INDX

Thanks to whoever seems to have used my code. I got a voucher but no Prusameters and now I am puzzled.

I have 500 prusameters to go till a new CoreOne! A voucher would be very disappointing!

I did use your code on August 27. I paid, but its still a ways off from shipping, so maybe that’s it. I can pm you my order number if that would help you dig into it.

Nice, thanks a lot! I figured out that I can also create “special” codes for products, which I didn’t do, then I could’ve gotten meters.

Very kind of you to use the referral.

What you are going to get a free Prusa???

He’s got thousands of downloads. Peter is our star player here.

I just need 468 Prusameters! Of course if I hadn’t wasted Prusameters on filament, I’d have been there months ago.

Cracked 100k earlier in the year, still waiting for my silver plaque!

Wow congrats!!!

How many points per download do you get?

Not sure where to post this.

Has me nervous about what I’ll see when I get the INDX update for my Core One L later this year.

It looks like I should stock up on some prusament to be ready for at least the initial print work I do with it.

I was just coming here to post this video. I’m watching through it now. It’s a really really good walk through on how the whole design works.

Makes me really look forward to getting the parts in to try and get it on my MPD3DPv4.

It’s also showing me a lot of stuff to think about when I do start designing how I’m going to mount the toolheads.

Tom is such a negative :poop: !

I’m pretty sure @Tokoloshe isn’t just using Prusament, neither are the few thousand others who have the early versions running.

The best comment on this I’ve seen is that out of every thousand there are five issues raised in social media - 3 of those are due to complete user ignorance or error, and two may be genuine. Consensus seems to be that Tom was chasing clicks - and I agree with that!

He even gave the “hardened nozzle” a pizzling. No one really wants to know that the nozzles provided are probably “good enough”, while there’s a marketing stuff up to keep alive!

Pop back and see how much of a toasting he gave the Prusa XL on a couple of occasions. Then fast forward to this clip, where he actually said that is the machine that is his go-to daily because it’s so reliable. I don’t recall an episode where he explains how that came to be!

I ordered the L INDX nervous about this sort of thing, but clearly it works. Software upgrades and filament profiles will come, I hope I’m right, but delivery starts in a couple of weeks, so I’ll get back to you after Christmas when it arrives to report whether my faith was misguided!

A few very interesting points in there. The visibility into the printer is one I had kind of noticed but hadn’t really thought of as a big deal, except for the point about needing to be able to see the first few layers and checking nozzles have purged effectively etc.

I’m still in the position where I don’t really ‘need’ to upgrade but I have a few frustrations with my K1 max that mean I’d certainly consider it.

Another potential option I saw announced a while back was the Creality K3… Only 4 nozzles instead of 8 but still a tool swap without needing filament cut/retract etc. so should be able to mix and match nozzle sizes/types, external filament drive so fewer issues with tube drag than my K1, slightly smaller build platform as default but I’m sure they’ll do a max version eventually. I think I saw something about finer pitch belts and closed loop steppers, too.

It’s crazy seeing all these different approaches to nozzle/tool changing and trying to match them up with what I personally would be likely to use. I’m not really big on aesthetic prints, so efficient multi-colour isn’t a big draw for me, but 2-3 colours for highlighting/labelling would be nice given what I’ve seen James on the Clough42 YouTube channel achieve. Multi-material prints for stuff like embedded gaskets/seals/hinges etc. or support interfaces would be the main drawcard, even if just to avoid spending as much time reloading filament to go between PLA/PETG/TPU/whatever.

Honestly seems like at this stage I should probably just grab a Snapmaker U1 :expressionless:

That was not remotely unique to this guy, though. I recall from the time that quite a few people without a horse in the race were ‘mostly positive’ about the XL while pointing out the significant flaws. Those also being people who very much didn’t seem to have any desire for getting clicks for bashing it and just wanted the damn thing to work properly. Those having been fixed is great news and it’s right to call out that these don’t get a video made about them as often.

I’m ‘ok’ with him leaning into the issues for the clicks, I suspect it’s the opposite side of the coin with other creators breathlessly exclaiming how INDX is an absolute game changer etc. If even half of his issues are ‘real’ or caused by his choice of filament, that completely and utterly discounts it from my personal consideration.

Personally, I have no familiarity with Prusa printers and very nearly bought an XL and was considering a One L INDX. Not any more, and certainly not purely because of just this one video.

There’s always bias. One of those forms of bias is significantly more serious, to me at least, because it has the potential to leave me with an exceptionally expensive printer that underperforms in a dramatic fashion.

Yep, and I’m biased for many reasons, but my main prejudice is against ALL content creators who don’t even up the scales of their criticisms.

They don’t do that for lots of reasons, (except Pierre, the Swedish Maker who has permanent affilliate links for everyone! ) mostly because there are no clicks and that’s how they make a living. Tom has openly said that unless he is first with the review of a new product, it’s not worth his time to do it. The XL is a great case in point - it was rightly criticised, often heavily for what were minor issues, the sort of thing I’d just fix and get on with (while being a little disappointed).

I don’t recall ever seeing a “well the XL is a really great commercial printer now” episode, but I have seen many creators with an XL quietly chugging away in the background just doing stuff.

On the filament incompatibility front - why was the printer manufacturer blamed? I have recently bought some really cheap reject grade PLA of origin so dubious that it’s branded “Shittament” , yet it comes with a .ini profile for my machine ready to load into PrusaSlicer. Would that not have been a more constructive argument to make with his sponsor?

What are Voxel doing about the problem? Other filaments do work with the standard profiles, surely it’s not the printer manufacturer’s problem to ensure compatibility for all filaments at all times. Or am I just too old and have too many bad memories of a time when profiles varied from spool to spool of the same colour and batch, and the world has moved on?

I was turned off when he stated the filament he was having issues with just so happened to be the filament sponsoring the video.

That is the under statement of the year!!!

I print with recycled filament from recyclingfabrik as well as filament from dasfilament. My printer and INDX rarely see Prusament.

I print with 0.6mm nozzles, I printed PA last week… All with the INDX.
