Interesting. I get all the same stuff as you except that popup: ‘Information… It seems you are in a limited environment…’
Hold on, system isn’t coming up. Let me try to get the thing booting up. I’m in front of it now.
Ok, once connected to FluidNC, if I open firefox (my default) it immediately starts connecting and loading FluidNC, and I have a warning at the top of my window like yours, ‘(i) You must log in to this network before you can access the Internet [Open network login page]’.
If I click on [Open network login page] I just get another firefox window that’s identical. I don’t get your pop-up. And then after a little bit firefox will go to the ‘detectportal.firefox.com’ webpage. I will try this in another browser.
Do you have a popup blocker active?
The firefox install was completely fresh and new (this whole PC was straight out of the box connected to the LR4) and it looks like firefox had ‘Block pop-ups and third party redirects’ checked by default.
I just unchecked it and am messing around with it to see it behaves differently.
Microsoft Edge doesn’t get as far as firefox btw when trying to connect to 192.168.0.1
Go to your wifi settings and forget the fluidnc network.
When you connect the next time do not have it automatically log in.
You never hook up the dust collection ground to the power returns on your controller! Use a dedicated return back as close as possible to the wall outlet.
Firefox behaves exactly the same way as before after I unchecked the default pop-up blocker. Clicking on the open network settings just opens another instance of FluidNC in a new tab.
The shop vac I’m using and router both DO NOT have any grounds, but the shop vac was plugged directly into the wall. The router is plugged into the same extension cord as the LR4’s power supply. Should it have it’s own independent cord direct to the wall?
I don’t want to fry my board obviously but these connect issues were happening before the router was even mounted and before the shop vac was connected and running; I had a dust hose mounted but it wasn’t even hooked up to the shopvac.
Same behavior as before. I’m going to try to use a macbook runing firefox.
That part is (mostly) fine, as long as the extension cord has a ground wire and the Jackpot power supply is plugged in to that. For the dust hose, best practice would be a separate run to a wall outlet, next best would be to tie it to the extension cord return. DO NOT tie the hose return to the VMOT or any other return on the jackpot board itself.
Edit to add: also, be careful to leave your probe and clip connected together when stowed in the beam. You want to eliminate paths for ESD to damage the jackpot or other controller.
I tried everything on the macbook running Firefox 148.0.2
Same behavior as on the PC… I don’t ever get a ‘use network as is’ pop-up. I have seen that before on my phone when connecting to airplane wifi I think. Maybe android behaves differently, I will try with the phone later. In the meantime I can get to work with UGS.
Thanks.
Forget every other wifi network. Only log in to the fluidnc.
Does the signal show as full bars?
Does it stay connected or does it drop the connection?
I am stepping away so not directly testing right now but through all this I had made sure the other networks (actual internet wifi) on the dedicated gantry Windows box did not autoconnect although they were not specifically forgotten. I would still get FluidNC dropping out (and because internet wifi network was not set to autoconnect the machine wouldn’t connect to those networks, it would just stay unconnected until I reconnected to FluidNC). With FluidNC I tried both autoconnect and manual. Autoconnect to FluidNC is better for troubleshooting because as soon as it drops Firefox opens a new window on reconnect, whereas without that behaviour I would never know the machine was disconnected; FluidNC doesn’t have a ‘CONNECTED’ type dial that I could see. Again, it does stay connected for at least 5 - 10 minutes typically, but for driving around a 4’ x 8’ table that isn’t always what I want. FluidNC always shows full bars.
Don’t do autoconnect, you will hammer your connection and can freeze your jackpot.
There are two of you with the same issue. We need to figure out why your computers are rejecting the connection. It is going to be something simple we are overlooking.
i had similar issues a long time ago, but could be something totally different ,tried 3 different laptops all running windows 10 was forever not connecting or dropping , added external usb wifi to laptop hasn’t missed a beat since on external wifi , , if i forget to connect via external and use internal wifi it never connects
What you’re saying is the internal wifi in the Laptop was horrible. Do you have the models of laptop, or even better what WiFi adapters they had in them?
pretty much , all laptops are acer, i tried updates everything with no improvements
the oldest model aspire E15e5-573G-792V - –Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 wireless network adapter
not at 2nd but picking it will be the same
the newest of the 3 Aspire 3 A315-53-578Z –Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 wireless network adapter
they wouldn’t even find our modem in house when they were in workshop by an open door approx 20 M away
the external picks up and will connect with strong signal to the extender i have in my bar which is on other side off house in middle of steel shed which is about 50 meters away
will put specs of external when i get to shed later
