Anyone selling their LRV4 in UK?

Hi all,

Brand new to the LowRider world, but a lot of experience in the CNC world. Yesterday I came across an advert on FB Marketplace with someone selling their assembled LRV4. But by the afternoon, it was gone.

I’d never come across the community or machine before that and now I’m hooked.

So if anyone is selling their machine please let me know. The closer to Bournemouth the better

I realise this may not be the right sub for this, but the for sale only had posts of things for sale, not of people searching.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum @DylanBan !!

If you don’t find someone selling a used machine near you, you can always build your own. Its not hard at all. Or there are options for buying them Partial Assembled and Full Built as well.

Welcome, Dylan, to the V1 community forums.

Where are you located?

Aside from finding a fully assembled machine, you may find there are people and places that could help you build a machine.

I travelled over to visit SMRRF in Manchester last weekend, and before that I stopped in Nottingham where three of our community members built an LR4 from parts basically in a leisurely day on the Thursday before the show.

We did that at Nottinghack makerspace. All three of us have previously built LR4s, but it shows what can be achieved when we work together.

Along the way I learned that @FreneticScribbler has a great local source for 30mm tubing for rails and also a keen interest in helping folks get machines up and running.

As JJ notes, it’s also fairly straightforward to build a machine from the kits or even to self-source materials to build yourself.

The community here on the forums here will help you along as you go.

I am also supplying printed parts, aluminium plates, linear rails and screws to the UK (though shipping is a bit costly as it’s DDP - delivery duty paid at 80€, but there are not hidden fees, taxes etc., it’s all been dealt with on my end). You can find it here: Shop – HaWiWe
If AJ has got a source of 30mm rails, you’d only need some minor parts, pulleys, belts and the electronics.
The build itself is pretty fun, can recommend it warmly, also, you know the machine afterwards.

That’s a good tidbit for me to know, before now I never knew exactly what the cost impact was for sourcing parts this way.

Agreed. The build itself is very rewarding and leaves a good working knowledge of the machine- which comes in handy as you use it.

It’s a rough estimate for the printed parts, if someone orders more I am paying the surplus fees, but eh, that’s how it is. :stuck_out_tongue:
Ryan has it figured out better.

Shipping from Ryan to the UK is actually slightly cheaper but doesn’t include import tax. Are you feeling lucky? :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, yes. As Jim says I’ve definitely got an interest in more LRs in the UK, let me know if there is any way I can help

No, Ryan only sends DDP as well nowadays. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you all! I really didn’t expect a response like that! Really appreciate it.

So I’m actually based in Portugal now, and as much as I’d love to build one, its more a matter of time. I’m building a tiny house later in the year and was hoping to have a CNC to make the furniture and interior fittings. Again, not my first rodeo, but the first time making it for myself.

The reason I’m looking in the UK is because there seems to be a bigger and better community than here in PT and I am have delivery of my stuff organised for the beginning of May. So thought it might be an great solution.

From what I can see getting Ryans kit delivered here costs an extra ~200eur of shipping, customs and Tax, so @Tokoloshe might be my best option for an easier EU build. With the makerspaces here making the 3D printed parts isn’t much of a hurdle, it’s more about sourcing all the other parts and making sure I don’t mess it up.

I must admit the most intimidating part is figuring out the configuration, there are so many options!

But if anyone knows of anyone looking to sell a machine in the UK before May, please let me know. Otherwise it’s plan B(uild)

If you are in the EU, shipping is dirt cheap and there are no other taxes. If you ordered everything DHL premium shipping would be 17,50€, since it’s EU there wouldn’t be any taxes etc., if you ordered the rails, screws and aluminium plates it’s ~15€ or so, so not much difference.
I do not sell the belts, pulleys and electronics though, you’d have to source them yourself. The small parts do not make sense to buy in bulk and then sort into boxes since I am doing this as a project on the side to support V1 Engineering and can’t put too much time into it, selling electronics is not hassle-free in the EU.
We are actively working on offering full kits, but it might be a while.

Yeah, you’ll definitely have a much easier time sourcing in the EU than the UK :upside_down_face:

Thanks for all the info Philipp, it’s sound like it’ll be a good option.

sourcing here can be quite challenging, even if it’s in the EU, many places don’t ship here and google filters results so finding things in France, Germany and beyond can be hard.

We do love supporting Ryan, Philipp, and AJ’s stores. But there is also a For Sale section in the forums.

Jumping the gun a bit there, that’s still only in the feasibility check stages

Ideally I wouldn’t need to open one and we could just order from the EU but… Bah.

Surprised to hear that Portugal is a difficult place to source from

My favorite uncle has a vacation house in Portugal somewhere. It’s on my short list of places to go visit.

New V1E shipping option, “hand delivery by Jim”? Might not be very cost efficient

For the shipper, anyway

It’s great to find makers in one’s travels.

He needs to add “Where @MakerJim is going next” to the V1 map so people can place their orders.

 :joy:

I’ve repeatedly told Ryan he should set up perioidic LR builders’ sessions in various places where he gets orders from. UK, Northern EU, Southern EU, Australia, Canada, maybe other locations.

Sort of a small machine builders’ group.

Frankly, the idea is rollin’ around in my head a lot lately.
