I’m finally upgrading my LR3 dust show to @DougJoseph ‘s floating dust shoe remix. I am appalled to find that the 110mm (4.5") of 2.5" flexible hose will set me back an outrageous $42 CDN with tax and shipping when I buy the shortest 5’ section available on Amazon Canada. This somewhat offends my natural sense of frugality (AKA cheapness).
Is there anyone in the BC Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley with a spare 4.5" of this hose laying around that would be willing to donate it to the cause, or sell it to me at a reasonable price? I would prefer to pick it up, as shipping by Canada Post is a very unreasonable >$20. (I live in Chilliwack, but I do come into the city on occasion).
Or if there is anyone in the Bellingham/Sumas area, I could cross the border and pick it up there.
I have a lot of it left over, and I’m happy to donate the piece you need if you cover shipping. However, since I am in USA, the postage will be ridiculous probably.
You must able to find something locally, did a quick google search on “wood working supplies Chilliwack” and one of the search results was KMS Tools, they look promising, their site says they have 2 1/2" hose in stock at their Chilliwack location, if not, Lee Valley, little more of a trek, has locations in Coquitlam and Vancouver.
Many thanks for the offer, but yes, postage to Canada would be pretty crazy, plus the crappy exchange rate and foreign currency fees from PayPal would add a whole bunch more to the shipping costs (even with PPFF).
I looked on the US Amazon site, and I can get 10’ of the hose for $22 USD, and free shipping to the border if I combine it with the 100mm MGN12 and the EVA Craft Foam, so I’ll probably go that way. And if anyone in SW British Columbia or NW Washington needs some 2.5" hose, Ill have an extra 9’6" to spare!
LOL, I looked there before posting, with a search for “2.5 hose”, and it didn’t show any dust hose at all. After your reply I went back and searched “dust collection” and the main result for 2 1/2" was 10’ for $50 CDN. I searched again for “dust collector” and the product you linked was there (for $40 w/ tax). I guess it really matters what search terms you use on their site!.
Their hoses start at around $48 CDN ($55 w/ tax) for PE, and then go to $78 CDN ($88 w/tax), and that doesn’t include the hose clamps that Amazon vendors supply as part of the deal… Yes, it is probably the best quality that you can buy, but sheesh, that’s a lot to spend for something that I’m only going to use a few inches of!
As mentioned above, I’ll probably combine a bunch of stuff on the US Amazon site and get free shipping to the border. Still more than I was hoping to spend (cheap bastard that I am), but sometimes you just have to pay the price to get what you want.
