Pretty spot on really.
So i stayed away from aldi for a very long time. I always thought it was a dollar store! Now i go there alot!!! Tuna awesome! Salmon awesome!! I even got a skillet/griddle on clearance there I call it my aldi-stone!
Yeah, the quality is great because they have so much buying power that they can pressure the big manufacturers into their prices. They also often really only rebrand stuff. Medion, the electronics, are just rebrands as is a lot of the food, we even have a book about it in Germany that researches it.
Are you saying you donāt have these things all the time?
We are camping this weekend and we definitely had hersheys. Hot dogs, and pancakes/syrup.
No frozen pizza while camping. But it is also common.
Never had a chicken donut. But it sounds good.
A lot of the packaging looks different though. Are the hot dogs in a jar!? The SoCo looks a bit small, or maybe it has a large neck.
Trader Joes (owned by aldi, no aldi in CO) is pretty great when they have what you want. But they decided they didnāt want to make the chocolate granola anymore. They donāt offer any alternatives. They still sell the maple and vanilla. The local super market would never offer zero choices of chocolate granola. They probably have 5 choices.
We do, but the pizza and chicken doughnuts are special. Also the cheesy crust and pretzel thingies. We have other variations usually, hard to explain. We never have Reeseās though.
*scratches Germany off of destination list*
Heathensā¦
I can offer you some really good sausage. Unlike the British we know how that works.
Oh, and great bread without sugar in it.
Hrmmm⦠I might be tempted by some good sausages, hearty breads, and good chocolates. Iām assuming you still know about chocolate, given your proximity to Belgium and Switzerland, even if you havenāt been enlightened by its combining with peanut butter. Oh, and beer. And Iām fully aware of what the world thinks of American ābeerā (āPut that Budweiser back in the Clydesdaleā¦ā), and I agree.
We have chocolate, but usually only Milka etc. Toblerone, the Swiss chocolate is great, but they now moved part of their production from Bern to Bratislava, so not authentic any more.
And the beer is great. You are welcome any time you want to come over.
*pencils Germany back onto the list*
Iāll just have to remind myself that the quintessential Midwestern American ābratā is likely not terribly close to its namesake. And that the andouille and boudin that I grew up with are likely to be closer to French sausages, given the history of the Cajun peopleā¦
*has a sudden flashback to the knoblewurst sandwich he got in NYC once, and shudders a bit*
The garlic⦠my god, the garlicā¦
too funny! Iāve never heard of chicken doughnuts either. Chicken and waffles is popular but no chicken doughnuts.
