Amazon Prime Day

I bought some of those crimpers from ali express arrived in 6 days and they are better than my volvo factory ones

Yeah, some of the cheap crimp tools are pretty reasonable now. The ones I bought don’t match the JST crimp terminals which is most of the issue that I’ve had, but they’re still pretty reasonable ratcheting units.

Actually, in hindsight I think I used our Molex KK terminal crimping tool with the alignment block removed in the end.

Mine worked a treat i made looms with the black connectors but i wasn’t happy with the fit they felt loose so i cut them all off and reterminated them with some white ones much better

I sometimes have to remind my friends (even the ones inside the country) when they come at me with ā€œOnLy CoUnTrYā€ whatever or ā€œWhAt AbOuT [insert country]?ā€.

330M people is not a small number, and neither is our economy nor our consumption. Comparisons often just don’t work. Some of my California friends like to brag that if you were to count it independently of the US, it would rank as the 5th largest economy in the world. It’s a problematic assumption, but it does make a point.

$10 a roll. Not bad at all! I have been printing a lot of this brand lately and its been really good stuff!

I didn’t buy anything that exciting. I picked up some more pants and shorts, James Bond collection for my dad, and the Animaniacs collection. I did spring for the DeWalt battery powered fan.

Looks like the Biqu extruders are on sale again. The lite is $60. I can’t remember what the regular price is on that.

Ugh… the Canbus stuff is on sale too. I snagged one and another microtouch and the filament sensor. I guess the MP3DPv4 is going to get more upgrades than just klipper.

Dang it… Lightning deal got me one last time. There’s a Sous Vide on it that’s manual so no fiddling with apps. Gets good reviews too.

I have to say my sous vide is the most used cooking item for me. I freaking love it. I love knowing all meat is done to a safe level (more meat on the bone as well), without over doing it (chix, pork). I like knowing if I splurge on a good steak it will not get messed up by my eyeballing it on a grill. I can not recommend them enough.

I caught a deal a few years back on a ding and dent grill with a searing side. Oh buddy does that really pair well with s sous vide.

I’m a big fan of cast iron for my steaks.

My favorite is Ribeye. If I have the time, I’ll smoke the ribeye on the pellet smoker until it hits ~125f. Then I bring it in and sear the outside on cast iron with some butter and herbs to finish it off. I’ve also finished it off on the Weber that sits next to the pellet smoker. It all depends on if I want to take the time to remove the cover from the weber or if I’m being lazy.

I have the ability/know how to cook steaks completely on the Weber, but it takes more time and effort to not screw up.

The hope with the Sous vide is to do a steak for lunch. Start the steak in the morning before I start working, then polish it off in the cast iron at lunch time.

I have thought about getting one for a few years now but never pulled the trigger. I know a few people with them but never eaten anything cooked that way to know for sure my self lol

My understanding is, if the sous vide is used correctly, you should never know it was used.

A lot of restaurants use them. That is when I gave them a try I went behind the scenes and saw how many were being used in a super fancy restaurant and was shocked. The one I went to cooked a lot of salmon to just under ready to go temp and held them there until needed, quick pan sear brought them just up to perfect temp and gave them a crust. Only way meat can be made to order so fast. They held steaks at med rare and if you requested more it was done further in a pan instead of just seared. Pretty crazy.

I like just throwing the meat in there, fresh or frozen, in the morning and not worrying about the exact time I pop them out and finish them off. Make dinners and get-togethers so much less rush rush. Another buddy meal preps his chicken individually and does 4-5 days worth at once and just leaves them sealed in the fridge until he needs them. (I still prefer to sear things a bit but for chicken with sauce, not a big deal.

I could see using it for other meats like that too. Especially the huge chicken breasts we get in the stores these days. Cooking those in a skillet is almost impossible without burning the outside. Having them mostly cooked and then finishing them off in the skillet makes a lot of sense.
