Amazon Lead Screws for LR4

Looks like the T8 lead screws for LR4 aren’t sold in the V1 shop anymore, so I sourced these from Amazon. These are different than the ones linked on the LR4 build page, but those were out of stock so I looked for an alternative.

Now that they’ve been delivered, I’m noticing a lot of slop between the nut and threaded rod - which I’m guessing is going to lead to backlash issues. (Haven’t tried to measure yet, but the nut is visibly wobbly on the rod…)

Is there a better source (that’s in-stock on Amazon)?

Yet. Just waiting on two shipments.

We use gravity as our anti backlash, no worries the slop is of no concern.

I’m not sure how watching a sandra bullock movie helps here…

I also bought mine M8 2mm pitch from amazon and they have plenty room for sawdust and gunk. 2mm needs to move fast so they are a bit noisy from resonance. The worst is the liniar track they can be too cheap and I had to smooth them with emery cloth otherwise they were too tight and gravity wouldn’t do its thing. I might considering a 4mm pitch to slow down my Z screws.

You need to be sure your Max Z speeds are set 4x slower than ours. At such high speeds you have very little torque left.

Correct, the gearing is 4:1 now so torque is not a problem. I Will try testing other pitch to find the best solution.

No but speed is, steppers motors lose considerable torque at higher speeds. That is why I use the 8mm pitch screws. I would prefer a 10 or maybe even a 12mm honestly.
