Team i am definitely putting the cart before the horse here, as i haven’t finished building yet.
So I have a lot to learn before i even get cutting.
But, I am wondering, Do you guys have orientation/alignment markers on each axis to make sure the cutting material is always in the exact same position.
As soon as i am setup, I have a to cut about 20 sheets, all exact LxW, and exact same cutout on each.
Ive watched example videos where the sheet is just laid down and the cutouts are made, but i need the “negative” as such is the piece im keeping so needs to be perfect on each piece.
Hey, welcome to the community, I’m pretty new here too.
I think what you are talking about can be achieved with spoil board squaring.
I’ve been googling a bit about it myself.
Some of the guys her have done some fancy stuff with their spoilboards. I’m planning on building a parametric table, and then hopefully a fancy spoilboard too.
Ive almost done my printing, so hopefully I’m not far away
Assuming the start position is the same and the piece you place down is always the same it shouldn’t be a problem with the same program.
For me whenever I’m doing something similar I have the 0,0butted up against a fence I screw down into the spoil board, knowing it’s flush against that should equal same size cut on the piece
What I use is a big (400mm x 400mm) L shape in the bottom left corner of the table with a circle removed from the inside corner.
Get that squared up and set so where the lines meet is 0,0 and you can use it as a bumper to push your pieces up against.
You can see what I mean in this picture - this this case I’m also using spacers - cutting so close to the edge of the metal I was worried about the collet hitting it.
Yes, xmin and y min have a 15mm pvc stripe bolted down then machined 4mm away from the spoilboard. Then i place some 4mm acm strips to place down whatever im working with.
