Accentually bought a 1mm pitch T8 leadscrew, can I still use it?

Hey everyone, slowly buying parts for my MPCNC build, I bought this leadscrew and when I received it realized my mistake.

BQLZR 300mm T8 Stainless Steel Rods Lead Screw 3D Printer Z Axis Lead Screw Pitch 1mm with Brass Nut https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01JIMGDWE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_4YYBnwVeb4cLM

It’s a super low pitch, so in order to set the steps/mm for motion in the firmware would need around 3000 steps/mm, is this worthwhile or should I just get another leadscrew that’s the correct 4 start 2mm pitch?

You will be fine, just keep Z speeds under 10mm/s.

Awesome, thanks Ryan.

Based on its spec description it would only be 200 steps/mm using the standard 1.8° steppers. (One revolution moves 1mm) I would think that is comparable to the original all-thread design, maybe a little less, but I would think it could work.

As a comparison 200 steps (360°) yields 8mm movement with the 4 start/2mm pitch T8. So you are just going to have a slower Z axis.

Buggah! Late to the party again…

You can use it to test your MPCNC and get it to work.

Meanwhile, just buy a regular one and replace it later, it’s kinda annoying to have to wait for a slow Z axis.

Use half the microstepping? When we usually set the steppers for 1/32 microstepping, set this Z to 1/16, or whatever is half of other axes. May even set it for full step just to see how well that works!
