Here we go!
Will try to make a long story short: it all started when looking to 3D print large pieces (600mm long), and discussing with a friend of mine about the options, being fortunate to live in the land of the Pharaohs, when it comes to sourcing hardware, that’s another story…very few available locally, and stupid import taxes…
On a recent trip to Istambul, I was able to source the electronics, steppers, bearings and M4 nuts and bolts (Karakoy area for electronics, the hardware old market across the road for the other bits).
Duncan (if I can mention his name!), has been a great assets when it comes to advice on electronics, and about this kind of project thanks to his experience in 3D printing and engineering in general! CHEERS MATE!
Sourcing locally the tubing was a challenge, ended up with clothes rack railing in 25mm OD, chrome plated, might not be the best, I expect some wear and peel up, but for a total cost of 15$ (for 10 meters…), I will have a go with it!
Yesterday, Mr D. delivered the printed parts for the core, all well done, labelled, etc…very professional!
So, here we go, today is the beginning of the assembly!
Feet assembly, done.
Roller assembly, almost done…(first question of a long to be expected list!): I decided to go for a dual end stop mod, and now I am stuck on which way to assemble the plates…
Thanks for your advice, and thanks to Ryan for making all this to happen!
He is a friend of mine here in egypt, we work together on this project! Of course i pay for PLA and printing time, but it is a custom order, not his regular business! Import taxes around there are around 300% ! So we had to do it this way or the final cost of the whole story would not have made any sense!
It’s Alive!
Thanks again to Ryan and all of you around there for your precious advises!
Now time for tuning, adjusting, etc…
I am not done with plenty of more questions to come!
(Z motor getting very warm, very quick, X and Y motors getting warm as well, crown drawing half in the air…)
