I’m just building a mpcnc. I am nearly ready with everything. The only problem i actually have is the mount for the spindle. Does Anybody have a rigid mount for an 80mm Air cooled Spindle? What material ist best for Printing? PETG because of heat of the spindle?
Umm, how many watts is that thing? The only 80mm spindles I can find are the big guys that run off a vfd. If that’s what you have, I don’t think I’ve seen one on a mpcnc yet.
it has 1.5 kW . yes it has a vfd just because of better torque in lower rpms. This one on Thingiverse is for the watercooled version. I think it won’t work with my aircooling. But i’ll give it a try.

How much does that thing weight? I know Ryan has concerns with a lot of weight on the Z axis on the MPCNC. I’d compare the weight of your spindle to the weight of the dewalt before commiting to that spindle.
It’s not just the weight, but the size to pay attention to. Because, by the fact that the same weight more distant from the axis will add more effort on the gantry.
As I can not order the dewalt dw660 in France I use for the moment a cheap model (55$) of standard diameter 65mm while waiting to buy a Kress much more expensive.
It weighs the same weight as the dw660 but it is a bit more bulky that’s why I drew a tool holder where the spindle is the closest to the MPCNC tool mount part.
Project done? I have ordered a 1,5Kw 80mm Spindle with Vfd, too. But now I’m not sure if it fits to the MPCNC. 4.6 kg are maybe much for the 25mm tubes?
