3d patterns for wall panel / cabinet doors

I’m trying to make some carved patterns for my cabinet doors

Still not convinced about the result…
Do any of you have any experience/designs to share ?

It looks really interesting at least. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

a bit “busy” to my liking
Using a bigger diameter bit seems to make things a lot better though

I really like that one

Making some tests with pine and paint
Oak sure looks good but it may be a bit too expensive

It looks great, and with that large bit it seems to go pretty fast. I bet there are a few cool patterns you could pull off with that technique.

Part of the design constraints tbh
Planned machining time for a 80x40cm door is 12-13min

Still not on point with my fusion360 cam, the way I programmed it , I’m limited to parrallel passes
I’ll post some kind of tutorial if/when I’m confident in explaining how it works

It’s not 3d, but I like it

I like the contrast a lot.

What would it look like if you carved it with that fancy bowl bit? A little 2D/3D mix?

Exactly what m’y wife asked me

I’ll try with a V-bit maybe

Tester the V-bit… not great…

So I made the second panel just like the first, only a bit longer

The panel is 180x40cm

Hmm, see now I’m kinda tempted to reproduce my icosahedron designs in much bigger wall panel size….

My experience with those patterns is that it can be a bit “overwhelming” or “busy” if there’s too much details

I’d probably use these as central illustration of a panel, maybe in a triptic?

That looks so freaking classy. I love that idea. Next time I make something I would love to remember to add some style to it like that. Thanks for sharing, that really motivates me to want to make some more things.
