2.5" Vacuum Hose Attachment

This a remix of brandroid64’s vacuum mount. It uses the same gantry mounting strategy and rod connector STL. The design was made to work with the DW660 but I don’t see why a 52mm spindle wouldn’t work too.

My version is for a 2.5" hose but can be used with other diameters given the right adapter. It can be entirely 3D printed or you can cut the plates on a CNC and print the adapter. The hose guide plate is optional. Whatever your setup, make sure the weight of the hose isn’t pulling on the gantry. I’ve suspended my hose from the ceiling using a bungee cord to minimize hose weight.

I wouldn’t put the plate too close to your stock because you don’t want to suck up large pieces that were cut loose. Too high, however, might limit your maximum cutting depth.

I have also had trouble where the plate would suck down to a flat part, and it skipped steps.

You don’t have to get it as close and still be effective if you attach brushes to the bottom to keep the dust under the vac area. You can buy them, but there are several boots on Thingiverse that has brush files you can print with TPU.

Here’s the first one I could find, but the photo shows some kind of handmade brush thing, not the printed part that is included:

I’ve printed out some brushes and the boot and as soon as I have everything together I’ll take some pictures.
