Using jackpot v2 board but want to know what to use for a spoil board. What do you guys rec ommend?
First of all it needs some support, at least four aluminium profiles. And then you can use MDF. ![]()
on my extrusion based aluminum frame machine, I did 4 or 5 20/20 crossmembers (over a 2’x’4’ bed), then a layer of melamine/particleboard bolted to the rails. On top of that is my spoilboard of MDF strips with c-channel between for clamping. Seems to work well, and the clamp rails were a game changer for me. I just have to be careful about how far I plunge into the MDF. So far so good.
I too am a big fan of MDF strips for the spoilboard with tracks in between.
As long as you have your hold down clamps in the track, it ends up being pretty versatile.
That looks great, how’s the dust collection with the vacuum attachment?
I think it is ok considering it is only powered by a shop-vac. A proper dust collector would probably do much better, but I planed the spoilboard and it seemed to catch alot of it. I didnt have a cloud of MDF dust the way I did on my old machine.
Cool, I think I’m going to use a full blown dust collector on it.
