15amp outlet enough for 1.5kw spindle?

Hey I bought the 110v G-penny 1.5kw air cooled spindle and a 110v 2.2kw HY VFD to use with it.

My issue is that I didn’t realize my outlet is only rated for 15amps. I am not sure whether to use the VFD or spindle amp draw to calculate my needs for current.

If the calculation based on the 12A current draw of the spindle and I have an 80% efficiency, I calculate that I would need 15amps exactly.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Has anyone run a 110v 1.5kw spindle w/ 2.2kw VFD on a 15amp wall socket?

I have no 20amp sockets in my house and no 3-phase that is accessible.

Thanks

It’ll be fine. The 1.5kW is probably a slightly ‘optimistic’ rating to begin with and even then it’ll only draw that loaded. You’re unlikely to be able to load down a 1.5kW spindle without a more rigid motion system and some particularly aggressive toolpath settings.

I’d be surprised if you average more than even 10A.

I run it and the LR4 off a single 15A. I’ve been meaning to put a meter on it to figure out how close to disaster I’m flying. But I have not had an issue so far.
