1" EMT/29.5MM mod

Im just seeing if im missing something before i go ahead with the beefier tube. Ive also doubled up the brace. I know it will weigh more. Seems the original core moves freely on the bigger tubes. I did add a couple of washers to the outside bearings.

If you’re looking for extra strength/rigidity in the gantry, you could use 1” stainless steel tubing (25.4 mm OD). It comes in different thickness .060 and .120. The latter is extremely stiff and there are standard braces designed for that size.

1" OD steel will be stronger and more rigid than 1" conduit.

As to the extra strength… for what purpose do you need it? Even the 3/4" conduit is plenty strong enough for a 4’ span without enhancement, and there is far more to be gained by making stiffer strut plates than the tubes or braces.

I have quite a bit of this 1" conduit laying around. Thats why I’m wanting to use it.
