I’m interested in some of the designs from zenziwerken.de. He uses a “spiral-toothed 1.2 mm flute” when cutting many of his designs. I began cutting one of his bowl designs last night and the bit broke about halfway through. It was a pack of cheap bits I bought from Amazon, so that may account for it breaking as well as the feedrate. I noticed that most 1.2mm bits are listed for PCB etching rather than cutting wood. Is there a recommended bit roughly the same size designed to handle 1/4" plywood?
With an end mill that small, your cam needs to be dead on. Until you figure out the proper feeds and speeds, you’re going to be breaking a few.

I don’t know about “recommended”, but this vendor is the online presence for a local tool warehouse I use in Round Rock, TX. Their bits have been very robust. For a slot cut of that width, you are going to have to be very careful with you feeds and speeds. Might need to run multiple passes to get to depth instead of running in a single pass.
This would be roughly a 1.6mm using a 1/16" bit.

That’s where I get a lot of my end mills too. Couldn’t find a good link on my phone earlier.
I had Z set at 1mm per pass for a total of 6 passes. Do you think I should I decrease the depth?
Keep the depth, go slower.
