On the supply side, I wonder about your stepper drivers and current setting.

Same settings and drivers that Steven has, 1.5A because the steppers are rated for 1.7A.

Yes, that would overheat them. I use 1.5A, On On Off, and bolted heatsinks to the top of the steppers. I am using a different controller for Z stepper, the TMC2160, which has more protections. This stepper has a water cooling heatsink strapped to it. (tapping into the spindle’s cooling system) [TB6600 XY settings] [TB6600 settings] [Z settings TMC2160] [TMC2160 settings]

I am going to turn that down to 800, I think that’s what I had for the Primo. But the gantry was also less heavy.
