New here and working on building a lowrider v4 in Ontario, Canada
Sorry I posted this in the wrong forum earlier and can see how to delete it my bad
I ordered all the parts from v1 web store using the international option and have started assembling but I have run into a couple issues that I hope someone can provide some incite on.
In the instructions it shows the attached image on how to run the wires for the YZ plates
The issue I am having is that the stepper motor cables I received are not individual wires they have a protective sheath so its too big to fit into the channel. So far I have split two parts trying to stuff it in (luckily I just got my bamboo h2d so I am printing new parts in PETG-CF
I am new to the CNC design side of things so I am not capable of editing this myself. So I ask if there is a modified part design that provides for a slightly larger channel to accommodate this? I realize that I could cut the sheath off the motor cable but it looks pretty slick having it all nicely bundled together and even if I do its pretty tough getting the wires in without damaging them.
So If the whole channel flap is snapped off from prying will it still operate as intended ?
I have also broke two limit switch tabs off from too much excitement in assembly lol. Is there a better limit switch option for someone like me.
Also in my hardware kit that I received the idler wheels that run on the back of the belt are not smooth they have gear teeth. I have ordered new smooth ones but I am not sure if matters. either way this just to let the powers that be know what ships using the international option may be different than the US kit
Hey there, for the international kit you have to remove the protective thingy around the cables, they won’t fit otherwise.. They somehow didn’t listen to Ryan’s request. The idlers should have been smooth as well.
I put a piece of masking tape over the limit switches after installing to keep from snagging them why I was assembling. hope that helps. Looking forward to see what you create with your Lowrider.
Thank You both great simple solution with the tape dan Im looking forward to it too but have a ways to go yet. since i have busted the flaps I am considering drilling a couple tiny holes and using mini zip ties to keep them in the pocket I think it may work but ill update on my progress. Have great day all
Ok here is my quick fix. lol I know its ugly but I think it should work unless it gets hung up on some part I have yet to get into. the zip ties are not sticking out past the bottom. Any thoughts?
Or should I just print a new part and remove the sheath from the stepper motor cable
I figured I would continue with this one during my build.
Please advise if a new thread is preferred.
Anyways after taking things apart numerous times. I can advise others that if you have an international kit, do your self a favor and remove the coating on your stepper motor cables. I didn’t and have broken numerous flaps trying to fit it in.
Yes zip ties worked but of course I was not satisfied with that (printed new parts a few times trying lol)
So now I am at the stage of installing the linear rails, plates and lead screws however I discovered that the little tips/stoppers at the top of the linear rail guides are broken off.
I snapped one assembling the other bits after I reprinted but even the ones I purchased from V1e were broke off in shipping (not a complaint just an observation). I anticipated these issues which is why I purchased the H2D :).
While I am waiting for parts I printed a new PETG-CF core and as I am switching parts over to the new piece. I rewatched the video closer at the 3:45 mark
