That will just give you a 10mm drop table. I don’t think that is enough that it will ever cause you any issues
The spoilboard does not need to extend to the unistrut. I designed mine so that there is a gap which allows some of the sawdust to fall before it accumulates on the rail.
Makes a big mess on the floor but I do think it helps minimize buildup on the riding surfaces. I’ve been meaning to add a brush along the shim piece to further deflect the sawdust.
Oof. I’m waffling. If I don’t notch the rails they’ll always sit above the spoil board which would make the table hard to use for other purposes…
Maybe I’ll notch after all. Need to decide soon. Almost done with my dados.
I also just made my torsion box table old school on a table saw. I do have to add while I am a relative new 5 year noobie compared to many on they group I just cannot imagine having a project that I need to have more the 3" (75mm) unless there is a really special need.
Also as a percentage of projects I would guess that 90%, looking at all of the posts on this forum, of competed projects, are 2 1/2" (65mm) or less.
