Why do we still use trim routers?

May I advocate Estlcam as a controller again? :stuck_out_tongue: Can‘t you do an Estlcam board as well? The only drawback is the USB connection that is required.

IIRC, there was a kit to cram a Corvair engine into a Bug… Briefly considered it when I owned my '63 Beetle, but got over it, mainly due to the lack of Corvair engines in the mid-late 80’s…

Isn’t that a bummer on an 8’ CNC?

Wireless control, all the features and macros at the tip of your fingers…FluidNC is real nice.

Now that I’ve seen both I can honestly say that Estlcam is just so much better. The feature of remembering the last starting coordinates after rehoming the machine after a restart is really brilliant.

Really the only drawback is the USB. I hope he can some day work around that

Fluid and Marlin can do that. Workspaces, you can save several.

Stuffed a land rover v8 into a 1965 mg midget. I’ll have to dig up the pictures… was fun, but wouldn’t recommend doing it again.

i was watching a 996 get a LS jammed into it, fitted very well. Tuned Garage or something like that, but is all over u tubes…

I like the idea of the controller controlling the speed of the spindle, at least to start, but with control like that it also gives you the ability to use the buttons in the interface to override the speed, right?

sounds like the idea behind the Shelby Cobras.

You can actually add a trim pot in line. Have done that to fine tune conveyor speeds when vfd speed is controlled from a plc. Some times you need to tweak thecspeed above and below the commanded speed.
