[unofficial] LowRider v4 DIY CNC, gantry back covers, hinged for opening, and can pop out and back in, plus "tie downs" for them

Did the first one at measurement minus 1mm and it feels a bit loose so trying again with minus 0.5mm and we’ll see how that does.

For reference I printed the no supports one with a generous brim and zero infill.

I printed with LR4 settings: 30% infill, 0 supports and I sized it down in z by 2 mm from the measured inner brace distance and that wasn’t enough though perhaps using a tool to press the hinge nubs in further will help.

Oh yeah, the extra 0.5mm is much better. That’s the stuff. Great job Doug!

Save that first one because you may find another slot/opening where the opposite is the case. Despite the fact that the strut plate helps to get the braces at approximately the perfect interval, there can still be slightly less distance on one opening than on another.

If the hinge nubs don’t seat all the way in with just a press fit (of finger pressure), then they could be scaled down slightly in the slicer until they do fit. When they slide all the way in, there should be a half millimeter of stick out. And when that is added to the half millimeter of stick out on the other side, it means you are at 1 mm less than the opening between the braces.

Dude, your back covers look impressive.

You did all the work friend, if they look good that’s all on you.

I’ve made covers for all but one ‘bay’ where the controller will go. I’m really limited for time lately so it’s going very slowly but Ryan might be tickled to know I’m putting absolute minimum effort into the table

You shall not lie! Look at those fancy struts at the side, look at those feet!

I’ll have you know those rails were cut with a circular saw and a guide.

Okay so the cross struts I used my LR3 for, BUT I did mess up the slots that were meant to tie the bottom into the uprights and I used them anyway

Man love those strutplates. I may steal this for my 2 builds.

The chequerplate? Funny thing, I sourced 6mm Ali and intended to use that and then decided it was a bit heavy and too nice. Found a local place that makes trailers to sell me the chequerplate I needed for 20 bux.

I’ve made very little progress I’m afraid.
The only free time I have is after everyone has gone to bed or when I can’t sleep and get up early. :disappointed:
