With all that said, the printers doing 1000mm/s well yeah they should be using different units.

You just end up with decimal meters, then, though. ‘tis why non-residential construction is all in millimeters. I’ve built 40’ tall, 1000’ long and wide, wastewater treatment plants all in millimeters.

I think it boils down to:
- mm/s are easier to visualize the machine actually moving. I can see in my head the difference between 10mm/s and 25mm/s.
- mm/min are easier for deciding how long something will take. If I am cutting out the side of a bookshelf that is 1m tall, I can quickly get an estimate of time if I think about 1m/min vs 2m/min.
I can’t visualize how fast a bit moves at 1200mm/min without doing any math. I also can’t decide how long it will take at 12mm/s to cut out a 1m square without doing math.
