Still Problems with Circles

Hey all! I’m still having some trouble with cutting circles.

I’ve attached my gcode, but I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I’ve homed and made sure my rails are square and level, and this is with a new 1/8" flute bit from the V1E store. My router is the suggested makita and I’m cutting at a 3 power on it.

Have you checked if your core wobbels on the beam?

Yup! No wobble I can tell. Moving it moves the whole beam, not just the core.

Attach a pen/sharpie (or better yet a laser) to the core and apply only a little down pressure. Do you still get an oval? Also draw a straight line in the y axis up and back and a straight line the x axis straight and back. Do they stack on top of each other?

Hopefully removing the force of the cutting can scope down the problem to a misalignment issue vs a slop issue.

This is pretty terrible. I’m not sure what I need to do to fix it though and welcome any ideas.

Can you make a video with sound ? you should hear how it binds up or loses steps. with a pen should be smooth and silent

Oh interesting that is pen, what I find even MORE interesting is the pen looks like the same jitter on your wood piece! Did you try running the geode through an online simulator, just in case, it is very odd the pen would do the same thing.

Agree, also the wiggles are about 180 degree on the circle . Is that supposed to be a full circle? It also appears that the pen was closer to the board on the right side. This indicates your bed my not be parallel to the router.

Do you have pictures of it making a straight line in the Y direction up and back and then in the x direction down and back?

I’d also duplicate the circle 4 times in different x,y co-ordinates. I once had some electrical splices that glitched when flexed in certain locations causing some issues.

OK, now I am really confused! The gcode you posted I ran through ncviewer just now. It is a pocketing operation. Not a circle like you have above. (for pen at least.) Did you not run the same gcode?

I do not see anything there that is causing this.

ok, I want you to look at the Braces. What tubing size did you use?

There was a similar problem recently and he did not use the proper brace!

i just looked at your other post with the core and I think you have the wrong braces!

there are 3 tubing sizes. Make sure your braces are the correct size for your tubing!

I didn’t run the same gcode, as the pocket goes down 21mm, and I don’t want my CNC to try and shove my pen 21mm down

It was supposed to be a full circle. My table is definitely not perfectly level, apparently.

X axis

Y Axis

And here’s a video showing it’s clearly not very level, and I don’t know why but it skips at the same point.. . I don’t see anything on the bars that would cause it?

I did not, but it looks like you did, and it doesn’t look like it has that jitter?

Correct, no jitter. I ran it through ncviewer.

Did you check your braces, to make sure you ahve the correct size?

That jerky move around 6 seconds shouldn’t be happening. Either something is getting caught on something or something is too tight or something. I’m not quite sure.

My braces look like they may be too small?

Looks pretty straight!

There is a 30 brace, do you know! So if you have 30 mm conduit, that allows your Core to be loose with 29.5 braces. Check where you got your conduit from. I bet you have 30 mm conduit and need new braces. Loose core explains alot

I got it from Home Depot, and I thought when I got it I had double checked what it was supposed to be and I thought I had printed the right braces. Guess it’s time to print new ones. :frowning:

Wrong braces are advancing to be the new grubscrews.

Great it might have been solved!
