I checked the cable to the Z stepper motor and got a ohm reading which (as I understand) means the stepper motor is working. But it still is non responsive. What do I check next?

Good morning and welcome to the forum @Joshua_Cloete
We are going to need a lot more information to help you out. You posted in the ZenXY section which doesn’t have a Z motor about your Z motor not working so I am going to assume its for a different machine.
Which machine are you running? Which controller? Can you post some pics of your wiring?
Thank you so much. O no I’ll figure out the forum at some point haha. I’m actually building the Lowrider v4. I’m running the jackpot 3 controller. So all the wires and steppers are working perfectly except the one (the Z min motor). The cable is the 3rd one. The other picture has the ball screw shown. I can freely turn the ball screw with my hand.
No worries. That’s why I explained it lol.
You can turn the lead screw with power applied to the board and the stepper plugged in? Just wanting to make sure I am following you 100%
Make sure you put the heat sinks on the drivers!
Yes that is correct. The lowrider has 2 Z axis steppers. The one lead screw is firm and the other lead screw is loose while the power is on.
Thanks. I saw them in the pictures now. I’ll add them now.
(fun project but wow electronics are not my strong suite)
Well that sounds like a problem in your wiring or something else. Try powering down the board and swapping that stepper wire with the other Z stepper and see if the problem moves or stays with that same motor.
Great idea. The problem just moved. That tells me both the steppers and wires work. Maybe something on the port on the board.
