Shop Updates (originally Decided to move)

Guppies.

I’ve had a 10 gallon ‘planted’ tank since we moved in to this house 3 years ago. I’ve been slowly making it more complex and I’m now dosing ferts once a day using a home-made doser and I inject CO2. With all the extra nutrients, the plants overgrow the tank pretty much weekly.

I can just fit a 40 gallon tank in the same location the 10 gallon is currently sitting, so I’m upgrading.

I don’t want a lot of equipment sticking out the top of the new tank, so I rigged up some plumbing to house the heater inline with the filter in the stand.

Today I did all the plumbing and it’s currently running on a 5 gallon jug to check for leaks. So far it only looks like 1 or 2 little dribbles need to be addressed.

Current tank. You can just see the doser off to the right in the background.

That’s a great looking tank. They are so hard to photograph, I bet it looks even better in person.

Finished the stand. Tomorrow is electricals and plumbing. Then I will put it on the patio to fill it up and test.

New toy for the shop… Inflatable paint booth. I have a bunch of motorcycle painting coming up and decided to upgrade my painting tools. This will help to get the bad fumes out of the shop.

I put a pvc skeleton in it so I can turn the pumps off after spraying without having to take the parts out.

Also upgraded the air protection

And then supercharged the air compressor situation with some high flow fittings.

Compared to old.

WOW, I have never seen one of those. I love it! The PVC seems to be key, let if flash for a while then kill the pumps. That is a cool buy.

The instructions recommend the pvc or a 2x4 frame. The concern is if the power goes out, you won’t be trapped inside. They also tell you not to run the pumps more than 8 hours at a time.

Ohhhh, That makes sense.
