My lawn mower is one of the only corded tools I have.
And how many times have you run over the cord so far?
I bought an 80V Kobalt mower 3 years ago. Love it. Does my entire yard, still has over half a charge on it. Corner lot on a cul de sac, not a tiny yard.
I was just at one of those last week! They should just rename it to “The refurb Ryobi store”.
I have a Kobalt battery powered drill I need to see if they’ll honor the warrantee on. It has two speeds now, off and on. If you feather the trigger just right, sometimes it’ll start slow, sometimes. Usually it just doesn’t do anything, then strips out the screw threads.
I’m all-in on DeWalt stuff.
2 drills
driver
4.5" cut off
circular saw
reciprocating saw
line trimmer
leaf blower
18" chain saw
I still want to add a hammer drill, jigsaw, and palm sander. Maybe even one of the brad nailers.
I do a lot of stuff all over the yard, though. So dragging out air hoses or electrical cables is a pain. I have enough batteries I can swap batteries and always have some charged and available if I’m working all day.
What I really like is that the huge 60v batteries can be put onto the smaller 20v driver and run for DAYS without swapping batteries. It does make it heavier.
As far as HD or Lowe’s cutting stuff… My dad was having some boards cut down one time. The guy took his tape measure an started marking the plywood at the spots my dad wanted it cut. My dad stopped the guy because he wasn’t accounting for blade kerf. When dad asked him about it, he said, “What’s that?” If dad had left him to cut the plywood, by the time he made the last cut he’d be off 3/8" on the width of the board.
Zero times. I have hit a few snakes and decapitated them. The cord is bright orange and I really only have to move it twice when I am doing the outside edges. The middle I just move in a linear pattern away from the socket and it doesn’t get in the way.
The one place where it is annoying is around the playset. When I do that, it feels like vacuuming.
I bought the mower in 2008 and it runs like new as soon as I sharpen the blades.
We got one as a gift that has been repaired several times by an old lady who couldn’t use it any more and it just runs.
I have a few batteries that I’d like to do this with. How do you go about making the adapters? It’d be nice to be able to charge with a few less adapters for the one off tools I got for free. Already lost one for 3 months but just found it yesterday.
Here’s where the devil is in the details. It’s relatively easy to find discharge (Use) adapters to fit tool batteries with integrated BMS.
Charging those batteries, however isn’t so simple. I charge all of mine in the original chargers.
