Hey everyone! I’m trying to get setup in EstlCam for carving, I feel like my mill tooling is setup good but I noticed on the finishing passes after a tool change, that it spent way too much time cutting air and then was off when it went through the tool change and finishing.
I setup two seperate gcode files from the same 0, I made extra sure that nothing moved during the tool change.
At first it was cutting air for so long, so I thought I didn’t put the carving 90 degree bit low enough in the collet. So I lowered it and still nothing changed.
My thinking is I setup the tool wrong in EstlCam, here is my endmill tool:
Estlcam will assume z0 will remain the same between toolpaths, so you need a plan to manage that, even a piece of scrap the same thickness as your stock material to touch off on.
Do you know if you seperate this here and do a roughing check first then a finishing check, will the 0 need to be at the top of the low point after the roughing, or at the top of the board?
