New MK4 is out!

You mean you haven’t ordered yet? :open_mouth:

I did immediately, but the kits are being shipped earlier and you don‘t have to deal with the disassembly of the MK4.
I meant if I was able to sell my old printer for 750€, and his wasn‘t even an „S“, I‘d have done that immediately and also ordered the kit. :scream:

Yep - the numbers for me are interesting (in AUD) The kit is $1549 but will have tax applicable so close enough to $1750 - which is a quarter of an XL.

The upgrade is $749, but probably won’t attract tax so that’s a $1,000 saving for me.

Therefore I have to sell the Mk4S for more than a thousand dollars to break even! So the upgrade makes a lot of sense.

I’d need to get 610€ to break even. I also have it modded for the MMU though and would have to build that back.

Soon halfway through march and no news on the kit! The assembled units are shipping in batches, but nothing on the kits - even though the shop item page said “kits shipping in march”.

Update from support:

The kit might very well arrive later than the assembled ones!

I’m pretty sure that means that the first batch will be packaged on the 30th, then they’ll publish the shipping schedule in April. I am still hoping things will have settled down by September, by the time we return from our annual sojourn to the great north lands.

Uuuh. I don’t really need it, but fancy schmancy…
It’s the web slicer beta.

I didn’t think I needed one, but I printed it, and I now make a habit of running it gently over the print bed before every print because it finds those tiny little dags that happen occasionally from probing, and just whisks them away!

And the web slicer, I don’t think I’ll ever have a use for it, but it works nicely thus far.

Yeah, it was only about the web slicer. I do have that scraper as well for exactly that reason.

I prefer local everything, but if this remains open it could be a great tool.

The latest actions, like changing positions on the warranty seal- and continued open source access to their software- has me at least considering the Prusa core one. It looks like a very well made printer.

They’d done that already when you voiced your concern the last time. Shall I search for it? :stuck_out_tongue:

But yeah, it will remain absolutely optional. They are really trying to drive the point home that they are NOT going to force you to use it.
They also said they’d see how the servers for the web slicer hold up and consider making it a paid service, at least for advanced features, which is totally fine with me, I like to do it offline as well.
