Neat!

Well, sure. But now (or shortly in the future) every kernel has the PREEMPT_RT changes. So every future kernel is already real time.

Honestly, the people who will benefit most are the people who maintain LinuxCNC and distros that use RT Kernels. Us users get a pretty seamless experience thanks to them.

My simulators that pretend to be the rest of the universe to a spacecraft brain will benefit from this greatly.

I found this amazing automatic tool changer (“ATC”) build that I wanted to share.

Could this really work?

The problem is that you’d need a spindle that can turn both ways. Otherwise there is no way to fasten it.

This way you can cross thread your spindle with speed.

Stumbled upon this on reddit. I think this is pretty “Neat”

This guy makes his own HDPE sheets and then basically uses them like sheet goods. I’ve wanted to do this kind of thing for a long time. From his write up it seems pretty time consuming. But you recycle, (seems) easily machinable, very durable indoor and outdoor, plentiful materials, the downside is just the process.

I dunno! Maybe one day.

Ok that right there is pretty cool. I wish he would have talked more about his sheet press but I can see he was trying to breeze past it. The shredder for that stuff is quite expensive and they all seem crappy unless you spend a TON. I would be neat to do though, and I bet projects from that could sell for a decent amount

Nice! One of the comments led to related Teaching Tech video and …

Yeah which is a bummer. You can really save some material if you just set it aside in daily use. At least my family can!

Pretty neat, but would not work in Germany because we have a functioning recycling system. :joy:

Save it up instead of putting it out for recycling and it would work no problem. Just might take longer.

Go to the ocean, I am sure there is plenty from the us and other areas!

I say this shamefully, as there is no need for the shit to be there!

Hopefully someone(s) will figure out a way to unduck the oceans by harvesting, and capitalizing on the near unlimited supply of micro plastics e.g

There is a YT channel (brother’s makes?) that recycle a lot of HDPE. They often use an old panini press.

I have a stool I made like that from prefinished plywood and it is really useful for an occasional step.
