In the tool settings, you can choose (IIRC) the max depth of finishing passes. Just set that to at least as high as the deepest you will cut. Then choose that tool as the finishing tool, and Estlcam should make that last pass at full depth. Here are some reasons I can think of that you might not be able to do a full depth pass:

  • Maybe you were roughing too fast, and you left a lot more material, so the bit is still making a pretty thick cut
  • Maybe your finishing pass is too wide, so it is still doing lots of milling during the finishing pass.
  • Maybe you are working in a tough material, like aluminum. Full depth finishing is still possible in Al, but maybe combined with one of the other reasons…

Or some combination above.

Thank you @jeffeb3! I know why it did it, I left it blank, so it set it the same as my DOC, thus adding an extra 3 passes to it. I have it set, but only for the through cuts now. I’m about to give that a whirl and see what’s up with it! I’ll report back!

This will be the true test! It’s the left side of my Dragon’s Lair cabinet that got water damaged in storage. I’ve been making the cad files for MONTHS now, and i’m finally sitting at my machine, about to make it a reality!
