Saguaro cactus scene on cherry.
What kind of cherry is that? It’s really, really dark and neither European nor American.
It is lighter naturally and when I sprayed a lacquer, it got darker. Honestly, cherry was what a woodworkingf friend thought it was. I had a couple of pieces laying around.
I’d say it’s definitely not cherry.
Does not take away from the carving though. That’s one thing I have only ever tried on one small piece and that’s about it. Always in awe when “newcomers” start with it. 
Gemini says it mahogany. That makes more sense.
