Got strut plates cut today! And I tried my hand at an engraving with a v-bit. Came out pretty decent. I guess I should start making the youtube videos now lol.

I don’t believe it. I need pictures…or a video.

(working from memory here, so take comments with a grain of salt)

I recall reading that every possible byte of memory on the Uno was used for grbl, so I don’t think there’s room there to run Marlin, This is also why there isn’t room for things like displays on the Uno.

I don’t believe there is enough IO and there is only one serial port as well.

Marlin can be an accordion, because all of the configuration is with macros. You can turn a ton of the code off and it gets a lot smaller.

I have interest in finding out if I can make it fit though. I doubt it would be worth it.

I am using a mega2560 and its less than half the memory I believe. Not exactly sure how the UNO and the mega stack up against each other but I wanted more pins for future expansion. I was able to flash Marlin on to it as well, but I haven’t gotten familiar with Marlin much yet. I still need to read through the code a bit more. When I flashed it I couldn’t get any motion initially so I must have had something set up incorrectly, so for the time being at least I just went back to GRBL. There are definitely alot of things about Marlin that I wish GRBL had, but there are alot of forks of GRBL on github that have a variety of feature implemented. I think with some patience and alot of trial and error and reading code, I should be able to get all the features I want into one piece of GRBL firmware. But I still may yet switch to Marlin. If however I get GRBL working in much the same way I’ll be sure to make my own repository and share it here for a Lowrider 3 specific version others can try out if they like.

Finally got blendercam working. That was the hardest thing to install I’ve ever come across. Hopefully it was worth the effort.

Looking good! Like your colors!
