LR 4 build - completed!

The complete build took me 13 days and 6 hours from starting the first 3D part print to drawing the crown this morning. It took:

  • 48 hours of 3D printing with a Bambu P1S, 70/30 Standard speed / Sport speed
  • 2 lost days waiting for a larger pipe cutter from Amazon
  • another 2 slow days waiting for braided wire covers and a few odds and ends from V1E
  • 2 progress-less days due to work obligations
  • 3 spun-out nut holes in parts from tight nyloc nuts (need to work them a bit first!)
  • re-printing the Y-clips at 29.5 instead of the 30s that were too loose on my 29.8mm 1" EMT
  • a 1/4 roll of painters tape trying to square and trammel - successfully!
  • a half dozen hours researching gcode, FluidNC, EstlCAM, etc.
  • a half dozen gantry crashes while “learning” how to control it (oops)
  • another half dozen hours on gcode, FluidNC, EstlCAM, etc. once I knew what I didn’t know
  • A couple pieces of scotch tape to place my Crown drawing on the fridge - sorry, [grand]kids!

The build was a lot of fun, though still have to install a power switch and clean up the wiring.

I also designed a custom Sharpie pen holder for squaring, trammeling and drawing - the orange part in the photo.

Wow, that was fast.

You obviously don’t suffer from my condition, paralysis by analysis, congratulations

Thanks. The next step is cutting out some sort of test piece in MDF, then on to what I made the machine for - making guitar part templates.

The question on everyone’s mind… is the sharpie holder available to download somewhere?

Amazing job. Congrats.

Looks great. Love the colors. I don’t see any strut plates yet.

I am also interested in the pen holder file.

I posted the pen holder on Thingiverse and Makerworld:

Thingiverse - stl

Makerworld - 3mf and stl

I printed the strut plates yesterday. They came out perfect.
