BTW I made a spring loaded Sharpie mount for the LR4. If anyone is interested just let me know I I’ll share a link to it. It places the Sharpie about 56mm in front of the center of the spindle, so you have to account for that. Also, I raised my clearance plane to 10mm so as to clear the spring action.

I put a little super lube on the threads to make it smoother to go together. The spring comes out of a cheap Bic Stic pen.

You win for the largest crown!

You should list the parts on Printables or something. I am sure a lot of users would like to use one.

If you change your video from unlisted to regular and not for kids, I can add it to the LR playlist.

Nice!!

Will do, on both!

Did you face off your plywood waste board with a surfacing bit? From the picture it looks good! I only ask because my waste board is plywood, not MDF, and I wasn’t sure how well that’d work.

(I actually started a thread in the past I wish there was a product to build a waste board… exploring options other than using the uniform composition of MDF)

Yes, I used the 1/2" Dovetail bit that is frequently recommended here to surface the plywood. I ended up taking almost 4mm off of some parts of the surface before I came close to the lowest point.

Then I covered the plywood with 3/8" MDF over top to act as a flat surface, to cover the scabby looking plywood, and to act as a permanent spoil board.

Next I added some MDF blocks so that I could slide the sheets of plywood stock into a fixed position quickly and repeatably.

I slipped a sheet of 1/8" MDF under the plywood to act as a temporary removable spoil board as well, to keep the 3/8" MDF looking nice a little bit longer.

I also added some of the 3/8" MDF under the Y rail and along the edge where the Y rollers run, in order to maintain full Z travel.
