I have a very limited workspace, so wanted a collapsible table for the lowrider. I’m basing the idea off a sheet breakdown table. I’m not expecting it to be perfect but I have to compromise to manage space. Currently thinking I need to add 2 more longer beams to make it a 5x5 grid.
All middle beams are removable with 60mm slots cut fit together, the 1556 end 2 beams hinged in the middle to allow it to collapse against the wall with the longer piece which would be secured to thewall (44mm thick pine). Rest would be cut from 18mm MDF, 120mm beam height.
Personally, I wouldn’t bother with that many supports if you want to knock it down. It will add inconsistencies when you put it back together every time. Instead, just make something simple that depends on 2-4 bugger supports and sheets of plywood on top.
What size are you thinking? Making it smaller is a good option. It isn’t common to cut things very big, unless you are starting with a kitchen remodel.
Full sheet width and 1.7m long for size. Will stick with the 4x3 grid setup as shown then, its only 1 sheet of MDF currently so can always rethink if it goes really wrong. Planning to have it rest onto a workbench to be able to cut full sheet but that’s for the future if I ever get there. I would also need to switch the end stop around for that.
