Interested in beta testing a handheld CNC router?

@camchaney I’d be interested for testing the Beta as well. I’m greenish on the electronics side but have done a decent bit on the CNC. Generally like learning and testing out new toys as well. My biggest interest is making these height boards. I have to do 2 passes on the CNC machine since I don’t have room for an 8 foot table. Would be nice to just have your machine and do it one go. And adding quick free form customizations to projects like names or a small flower. Seems like the process might be faster. (form filled out)

Oh sweet thanks for your interest! That sounds like a great use case for a handheld CNC router - love hearing how people are thinking of using it. I appreciate you taking the time to fill out the form. I’ll be reviewing all submissions and will follow up soon!

Stumbled upon this when looking at the Shaper Origin, looks awesome! If you end up wanting more beta testers, I’m in NorCal, work in the IT industry, woodworking is a hobby which led me to get into 3dprinting for creating tools/jigs. That led me into looking into CNC routing to assist with cabinet making. If you won’t be needing more testers for a while I may be looking into brushing up on my soldering skills and ordering the pcbs.

Hey Mike, happy to have you here!

While I am not currently looking for more beta testers, I am planning to do another batch of beta kits in the next couple weeks. I will be posting about that both here in the forums and on my newsletter, so keep an eye out! More details to come.

How does one sign up for your newsletter?

NVM - just found it on your website (General 2 — Compass Handheld CNC Router for anyone else interested)

Thanks for sharing! I should probably make that more clear on my website

@camchaney
Hate I missed the beta but thats okay, my printer has been going for the last day printing all the parts. I’m going to start sourcing parts soon, is the beta BOM the most up to date? I’m hoping to try and use this for a few of the processes in building Ukuleles and Acoustic Guitars. Looking forward to see where this goes.

Oh awesome, that’s great to hear!! I don’t know if you saw the recent post about it, but I’ve actually just finished up the first prototype for the next version of the device. It has 3 axes instead of 2 which makes everything soo much better. If you’re really excited about getting a unit built out, feel to keep going with that, but I might also recommend just waiting till I post the push the new 3 axis changes - which should be pretty soon. I will be posting more deets as they come up in the next week, so stay tuned!

I will sit tight then and wait for the post on that. 3 axis sounds awesome. Looking forward to that.
