I had a wild couple of days

I too am glad that all ended much better than it could have, except of course for the car, and the chicken.

Not to put too fine (no pun intended) a point on it, in Aus, wearing of seatbelts is compulsory and generally we just do that as a matter of course. This in part contributes to the fact that road deaths per 10,000 vehicles is about 1/3 of that in the US.

Of course, we are helped along in our desire to comply, by strict enforcement and heavy penalties - currently in my state the fine is $1209.00 for each offense and four demerit points - accrue 12 points in three years (and time is the only way to wipe them) and you lose your license for a bit. Two offences in the one year attract double points and an immediate suspension of licence. Oh, and did I mention the same penalties apply for anyone caught holding a phone while driving, or in any other way interacting with it?

Ha! I hear you say… they’d never catch me. Welcome to the world of “seatbelt cameras”!

Seatbelts are now mandatory across the US with the exception, I believe, of New Hampshire. Our accident was 35 years ago before that was the case. With nine kids and my parents in a 12 passenger van we were very blessed that nobody was seriously injured.

Dang she better buy a lottery ticket! What was the vehicle? I am not recognizing it. Was it a landcruiser?

4Runner, now she will not get anything else! Turns out the equivalent Lexus is a bit less expensive (basically identical except they swapped the badges).

Seems you had your fair share of incidentals lately.

Hope sunshine for you for the rest of the year my friend!
