All that has changed from the photo at the top of the thread is that I have finished loosely assembling, the machine with the pen holder facing front left, plugged the steppers into the Ramps, flashed the firmware, and set up the pi.
The belts are not on yet so the only axis that will move would be the Z, but I have tape flags on the other stepper pulleys so I can easily see if they move . Below is a photo of the temporary wiring.
