Yeah… I’m happy with electronics that are happy with 347V.

I work in industry and we regularly havel 480VAC equipment installed in the US. Perhaps from a watt standpoint you can just get more with less current with a 277v leg over a 120v leg. :man_shrugging:

I think everybody here is going to be interested in the Hybrid Router that Sienci is working on. Router, but with speed control like a spindle. I don’t know what it will take to make it work with the jackpot though.

It says it’ll support grbl control so hopefully not much if anything. The signal cable could just be a PWM input.

Damn for $45 Id get that for sure. Genmitsu stuff is high end for chinese brands.

it is not going to be the same as a 800w/1.5kw+ spindle without a VFD, 100% it will be pwm signal. but auto start and rpm control with pwm its hell a lot better than the speed dial on top of the router. (its so nice to override speeds from the sender). 4 sure nice because it uses er11 collets, pricing isn’t going to be that great, in the end an 800w air cooled spindle with an RS485 capable vfd (that kit runs for under 280 right now ) + a 24usd isolated rs485 module from bard would be the easiest solution.

That is why i got my ER16 spindle it is great for roughing and signs!

bought 2 of these and save my spindle for another build.

Apologies in advance if this is a dumb, question. I’m a complete newbie in the process of gathering parts for a Lowrider build.

Regarding the routers listed above, which would be the preferred to purchase? I was planning on purchasing the Matika, but the Carbide 3D router seems like a killer deal, based on price alone. How would these compare to each other and also the $80 router that Carbide also sells?

To answer your question: they are 60usd. They are makita clones, it should work as good as any good quality clone/original. This one have the benefit of using standard er11 collets, so you can replace them/ have various collets+nut ready for bit changing and gain some time :slight_smile: i went this route to avoid buying 16ft shielded cable to install my spindles to the lr(it uses more vecause you have to run: a cable from the vfd to the board and another from the vfd to the spindle ) prefer to save the spindle kits to upgrade another machine. These routers with a relay from Bart’s page its all needed -No spindle speed overrides from software

A bit of the terminology was over my head (I will learn…) however my takeaway, if I’m understanding correctly, is the Makita and the Carbide E11 are roughly equivalent in use with the Lowrider and I could save myself about $65 Canadian by getting the E11 vs. the Makita (which retails for about $140+tax Canadian)?

ER11 are the collets, they are universal. Makita’s collet is not. I’d definitely go for the carbide. :slightly_smiling_face:

The demonstration video where they use different RPM speeds to play a musical tune, was clever and I liked it.

I was thinking about that one but, they haven’t released it :confused:
