Hard board or MDF for struts?

Would 6mm MDF be as good as hard boards for struts? No one sells 6mm hard board here (3 and 18mm, yes) but 6mm MDF exists.

I think hardboard gets used for the backside of wardrobes or armoirs nowadays, maybe you can find some by looking for shops that sell those specifically?

Nothing like that here. I have Ikea ones but like 3mm

I used 3mm for mine. Seems to be rigid. Not sure 6mm would be much better

I used 6mm plywood.
