Can you elaborate on your projects and how they relate to the topics in these forums?

I didn’t check how old the post was. I just posted an image of a canvas painting that I engraved using lightburn and my laser. I didn’t advertise anything. I sincerely apologize for joining the group and sharing what I made. Why is my name Maker Jim if I can’t share what I make? I just get to see other makers creations?

I hope you can understand that necro posts in old topics are very suspicious, particularly in a well moderated forum like this one.
You almost have to go out of your way to select a 5 year old topic to reply to.
How did it come to be that you chose that particular topic to reply to as a first post?
Your image is stunning, and I’m sure if it had been a brand new topic from a brand new user it would have generated quite a bit of discussion. Since it was a reply in a 5 year old thread, many of our most active community members may not even see it.
Sharing makes isn’t a problem here, and would (and will!) be very welcome.
I’d encourage you to make a new post in the “Things you’ve made” category, introduce yourself, your work, and your toolchain.
(E.g. lightburn, which many of us use, perhaps why you somehow ended up in a necro thread).
The way your post was written, it appeared to be an astroturf for your particular laser machine.
Coupled with the 5 year old necro thread I hope you understand the reaction as suspected Spam/bot activity.
I’m not afraid to be wrong, and I may well be in this case- but it won’t change that we apply moderation against suspect postings. We also let it sort itself out if a moderation is in error.
I’d love to see you post a new topic here in “Things you’ve made”, with a proper introduction of yourself, and your project, and some background. I’ll bet that gets a pretty decent reaction from our community.

I just logged on saw a post with an image and posted what I made. That’s all. Everybody else may be concerned with looking at the date something was posted but I don’t pay any attention to that. The post says “things you’ve made: fun with lightburn, lasers and dithered images.”
I had fun with lightburn and my laser creating that dithered image. I’ll make sure to post in the correct place. Sorry for the confusion.

Welcome to the forum @Jim_Straw! Its extremely unfortunate that your first interaction came this way. We have had a large problem with bots posting on very old threads lately so any time someones first post is on a very old thread it throws most of us on real high alert. Its very understandable how being new you wouldn’t think anything of it. I hope you will stick around and see how great this place is, and continue to share your makes and builds with us!
